2. Sagwa, Countdown to the New Year, PBS-Kids: On-line activity that helps students understand how the Chinese Celebrate the New Year.

3. China for Kids, Activity Village: This site has, arts and craft ideas, as well as handouts, that aid in students understanding China and the Chinese New Year.

1. Celebrating New Year’s Around the World, Understanding Time Zones from Glencoe helps students learn.

2. Clocks, Brief History of Clocks, and  

3. Quiz Clocks, Time Quiz, Brief History of Clocks. 

4. Calendar Converter: There are many potentially relevant math equations to develop discussions with the information on this site. This site allows you to convert dates from different calendars used in history like the Gregorian adopted in the US in1752 and widely used in Western societies today which can be compared with Julian, Hebrew, Islamic, Persian, Mayan, and others calendars used by societies.

Social Studies:

New Years Traditions Around the World: Father Time Net: This site had links about how different countries celebrate the New Year.

Reading/ Language:

1. January Writing Prompts, The Teacher Corner: This site has daily writing prompts online.

2. Teach: English Language Arts, Writing prompts, Can Teach: This has a list of possible journal topics, for those students who just can't think of anything to write about.

3. Mad Libs: New Year's Resolution, Wacky Web Tales

Arts and Crafts:
